Got little ones under 5? This is your jam. Otsego Parks & Rec hosts a drop-in open play every Monday and Thursday morning loaded with toys, crafts, and active equipment. It's super chill β€” come for the whole time or just swing by for a bit. Parent or guardian supervision is required.

🧺 Maple Grove Indoor Farmers Market

Date: Thursday, March 12 | 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM
Location: Maple Grove Community Center, 12951 Weaver Lake Rd (Maple Grove)
Cost: Free to browse

Stock up on fresh local produce, baked goods, and artisan treats right inside the Community Center. The spring indoor market runs every other Thursday, so mark March 26 on your calendar too. Pro tip: While you're there, let the kids loose in the Maple Maze indoor playground β€” it's open 'til 8 PM!

🌲 Journey Into the Sugarbush

Date: Saturday, March 14 | 1:00 PM – 4:30 PM
Location: Eastman Nature Center, 13351 Elm Creek Rd (Dayton)
Cost: $6 per person

Join a naturalist-led hike through the sugarbush at Eastman Nature Center to learn the old-school art of tapping maple trees and boiling sap into syrup. Registration is required, with two sessions available (1–2:30 PM & 3–4:30 PM). This one fills up fast, so grab your spots now.

🏊 Buffalo Polar Plunge for Special Olympics

Date: Saturday, March 14 | 12:00 PM (check-in at 11 AM)
Location: Sturges Park, 505 2nd Ave S (Buffalo)
Cost: Free to watch! (Plungers raise pledges)

This is the 10th anniversary plunge! Brave souls jump into icy Buffalo Lake to raise money for Special Olympics Minnesota. Even if you're not plunging, it's a blast to bundle up and cheer on the crazies β€” er, heroes. The Buffalo Plunge has raised over $565,000 since it started.

🏟️ Plymouth Fieldhouse Open Play

Date: Monday, Wednesday & Friday, ongoing | 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Location: Plymouth Fieldhouse, 14800 34th Ave N (Plymouth)
Cost: $7 residents / $9 non-residents (kids 3+); under 3 & adults FREE

The giant dome fieldhouse at the Plymouth Community Center has soccer nets, inflatables, and room to run. The dome is inflated through early April, so get those wiggles out while you can. Heads up β€” it's about 55Β°F inside, so dress in layers!

🧦 Rock Your Socks: World Down Syndrome Day

Break out your brightest, most mismatched socks and head to the Community Center for this beautiful celebration. March 21 (3/21) represents the three copies of the 21st chromosome that make people with Down syndrome unique. There'll be carnival games, music, and a whole lot of joy. All ages welcome.

🍁 Eastman Maple Syrup Festival

Date: Saturday, March 21 | 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM
Location: Eastman Nature Center, 13351 Elm Creek Rd (Dayton)

This is the BIG one. Visit the sugar bush, collect fresh sap, watch sap boil into syrup over a steaming cauldron, and taste the real deal poured over ice cream sundaes. Learn the history and science of maple syruping. Drop in anytime between 1–4 PM. It's a rite of spring around here.

🐰 Breakfast with the Bunny (Monticello)

Date: Saturday, March 21 | 8:30 AM – 11:30 AM
Location: Monticello Community Center, 505 Walnut St (Monticello)

Start your morning with pancakes, photos with the Bunny, games, a silent auction, and a Grand Bunny Raffle. Hosted by the Swan River Montessori PTO, all proceeds support the school community. Bring your own camera! Get $1 off per ticket with a donated food item for the local Help Center.

Maple Maze Indoor Playground β€” Maple Grove

Tucked inside the Maple Grove Community Center (12951 Weaver Lake Rd), the Maple Maze is one of those spots every NW suburbs parent should know about. It's a jungle-themed indoor playground for kids ages 12 and under, with a two-story tree house, four slides, climbing tubes, a rock wall, and a pogo stick. There's even a separate toddler zone for the under-3 crowd with a molded alligator, hippo, and activity panels. Admission is just $6.50 per kid (under 1 is free), and it's open Monday–Saturday 9 AM–8 PM and Sundays 10 AM–6 PM. Plus, they offer sensory-friendly hours on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 8–9 AM. Pair it with a trip to the Farmers Market or Home Show and you've got yourself a full Maple Grove adventure day.
